June 11, 2007

Mass Cash has three $100,000 jackpot winners and Mega Millions has one $250,000 winner sold in MA

It was a winning weekend for Massachusetts Lottery players, as more than half a million in prizes were won over the weekend in two of the Lottery’s online – or computerized – games.

Mass Cash had three jackpot winners in the Friday, June 8th drawing. Tickets sold at Kiki’s Kwik Mart in Brighton, Net Variety & Liquors in Shirley, and Tedeschi #181 in Weymouth each matched all five numbers drawn (10-21-25-31-33) to win the game’s top prize of $100,000.

A Mega Millions ticket sold at Mobil #19478 in Marlboro was just one number shy of taking home the jackpot in the Friday, June 8th Mega Millions drawing. The ticket matched the first five numbers drawn (06-26-29-31-39) and only missed the Mega Ball number (31) to win $250,000.

There was no jackpot winner in the multi-state Mega Millions game, so the jackpot grows to an estimated at $34 million for the Tuesday, June 12, 2007 drawing.

Both Mass Cash and Mega Millions are drawn on Tuesdays and Fridays and aired on WCVB-TV 5. Mass Cash is drawn live at 11:20 pm. MASS. LOTTERY’S STAR SPANGLED SWEEPSTAKES IS SELLING QUICKLY

May 24, 2007

In just 3 weeks, Jenny’s Market in Weymouth sells more than 23 books of tickets for July 4th drawing

With $40 million in cash prizes and incredible odds of winning, it’s no wonder that the Massachusetts Lottery’s Star Spangled Sweepstakes is creating such excitement with players throughout the state.

Just ask Kisung Kim, owner and manager of Jenny’s Market on Middle Street in Weymouth, he’s sold over 23 books – or 460 sweepstakes tickets – in the three week’s that the ticket has been on sale at his store.

The secret to Kim’s success is that he knows that the Sweepstakes offers unmatchable cash prizes and the best odds of winning – and he doesn’t shy away from reminding his customers!

On May 22, a steady stream of customers arrived at his store throughout the day to purchase a few items including a Star Spangled Sweepstakes ticket. They couldn’t resist picking up a ticket after Kim’s enthusiastic words of encouragement and reminder that the sweepstakes provides Lottery players with the best chance ever to win a million dollars or more.

In addition to informing his customers of the sweepstakes’ odds and game mechanics, he prominently displays the game on his shelves and has outfitted his store with point-of-sale materials showcasing the Star Spangled Sweepstakes ticket and its amazing cash prizes. Kim says that it is this added personal service, and the rapport with his customers that has brought so much success during the first few weeks of ticket sales.

“If you aim for a jackpot, this is the ticket to buy” Kim tells his customers. He also encourages customers to have a cookout while they watch the Fourth of July drawing and celebrate.

The Star Spangled Sweepstakes is $20 and is available at each of the Lottery’s 7,300 retailers throughout the state. The ticket will be on sale until June 30th, but could come to a close even sooner if the limited-run game sells out beforehand.

MASS. LOTTERY’S STAR SPANGLED SWEEPSTAKES SAILS OFF THE SHELVES

May 2, 2007

First day of sales spark excitement with players across Massachusetts

A customer at Li’l Peach on Neponset Street in Dorchester shows the Lottery’s “Colonial Man” tickets he purchased on the first day of sales.

The line formed early on Tuesday morning at Ted’s Mobil in Methuen as customers waited to buy the Massachusetts Lottery’s new “Star Spangled Sweepstakes” ticket and win a chance at becoming a multi-millionaire.

Dorothy Berryman of Methuen wanted to be sure she didn’t miss the chance at winning and was the first customer to purchase a ticket at the popular gas station/convenience store. It was clear that many customers shared Berryman’s enthusiasm for the game, as Ted’s Mobil – the Lottery’s top selling agent in the state – sold over 600 Sweepstakes tickets yesterday.

Just minutes down the road at the Common Ground Café, owner Wayne Bernard drew in customers seeking the sweepstakes ticket with a sign out front announcing its arrival.

The “Star Spangled Sweepstakes” will award a total of $40 million in cash to players, including an astounding $20 million top prize, 10 prizes of $1 million and 40 prizes of $250,000. Tickets for the July 4th drawing will be on sale until June 30, unless the ticket sells out before then.

The Star Spangled Sweepstakes’ arrival and the unmatchable cash prizes it will soon offer was not just eagerly awaited by customers in Methuen, but also across Massachusetts. By mid-afternoon, Li’l Peach on Neponset Street in Dorchester had a crowd of customers with tickets in-hand, each expressing that they wanted to get their tickets early before the game sold out.

Alfred Pawlowski, manager of Vista Donuts in Attleboro, reported that customers at his store were very excited about the Sweepstakes. More than 700 tickets were sold yesterday at Vista Donuts.

The odds of winning $20 million are 1:4,000,000; the odds of winning $1 million are 1:400,000; the odds of winning $250,000 are 1:100,000 and the overall odds of winning a prize in the “Star Spangled Sweepstakes” are 1:78,431.37. The odds of winning cash prizes of this magnitude are the best the Massachusetts Lottery has ever offered.

Each of the patriotic-themed red, white and blue tickets feature a seven-digit sweepstakes number. To win a prize, players must match their sweepstakes ticket number to the winning entries drawn by the Lottery. The $20 million top prize will be announced live on WCVB-TV Channel 5.

The “Star Spangled Sweepstakes” ticket costs $20 and is available at each of the Lottery’s 7,300 retailers throughout the state.

Mass. Lotttery Introduces
Star Spangled Sweepstakes

April 25, 2007

July 4th drawing will produce more millionaires in a single drawing than any other game in lottery history; Limited-edition game is sure to sell out quickly!

The Massachusetts State Lottery today introduced a new sweepstakes game that will produce more millionaires in a single drawing than any other game in U.S. lottery history.

The “Star Spangled Sweepstakes” will award a total of $40 million in cash to players, including an astounding $20 million top prize, 10 prizes of $1 million and 40 prizes of $250,000. Only four million tickets will be printed for this drawing, giving players incredible odds of becoming an instant millionaire. All 51 prizes will be paid in cash, unlike traditional lottery prizes that are paid in annuities.

The “Star Spangled Sweepstakes” ticket will cost $20 and will be available at each of the Lottery’s 7,300 retailers throughout the state.

Ticket sales begin on May 1st and end on June 30th, but could come to a halt even sooner as the limited-run game is expected to sell out fast. Winners will be selected in a drawing held on July 4th.

“With the chance of winning a $20 million cash prize, the “Star Spangled Sweepstakes” is certain to generate much excitement with players,” said State Treasurer Tim Cahill, who serves as Lottery Chairman. “Municipalities will also win big with this ticket. It is expected that sales for this game alone will generate more than $35 million in local aid for the Commonwealth’s 351 cities and towns in Fiscal Year 2007.”

The “Star Spangled Sweepstakes” will operate just like a traditional sweepstakes. Each of the patriotic-themed red, white and blue tickets will feature a seven-digit sweepstakes number. To win a prize, players must match their sweepstakes ticket number to the winning entries drawn by the Lottery.

The odds of winning cash prizes of this magnitude are the best the Massachusetts Lottery has ever offered. The odds of winning $20 million are 1:4,000,000; the odds of winning $1 million are 1:400,000; the odds of winning $250,000 are 1:100,000 and the overall odds of winning a prize in the “Star Spangled Sweepstakes” are 1:78,431.37.
