Ten finalists in the Boston Red Sox $5 ticket Second Chance Drawing participated in the festive event hosted by the Lottery and the Boston Red Sox. Thomas Howland of Milton won the grand prize of Season Tickets for Life while nine other finalists won prizes ranging from Season Tickets for 2009 to Opening Day Tickets..

$2.1 million on Megabucks

Gene A. Iannocone of Fitchburg hit all six numbers on the August 16 Megabucks drawing, taking home the $2,147,401 million jackpot. He received his first of 20 annual checks today at Lottery headquarters in Braintree.

He bought the lucky ticket at Gomes Liquors on Ashby State Road in Fitchburg. His winning numbers -- 9-23-29-30-33-41 – were a quick pic. The store will receive a commission of $15,000 on the sale.

In Megabucks, players select six numbers from a field of 42 and win for matching at least three of the numbers. Megabucks drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 11:20 p.m. and aired on WCVB-TV Channel 5.

When Edward C. Williams went to Bhau Mark to buy his favorite Red Sox Lottery ticket, the store was temporarily out of the $10 game. Williams decided to try his luck at the Boston Red Sox Limited Edition World Series Ticket and bought three of the $20 tickets.

He scratched the first one and won $20. And when he scratched the second one, he won $1 million in an instant. He still hasn’t scratched the third ticket.

Second chance a charm for KENO player

Majid Farah of Dedham won $10,000 in the second-chance contest held to mark the historic 1,000,000th KENO drawing. All non-winning KENO tickets sold yesterday were automatically entered into a second-chance drawing as part of the Massachusetts State Lottery’s celebration of its 1,000,000th draw milestone.

Farah, who bought his ticket at the White Hen Pantry on Centre Street in West Roxbury, received his check for $10,000 at Lottery headquarters in Braintree today.

His KENO ticket was randomly selected by serial number from all tickets sold yesterday. The other lucky winner of $10,000 has not yet come forward to claim the $10,000 prize.
